Dishes from favorite Lake Minnetonka eateries featured in new cookbook by Desclan Desmond on July 16, 2015.
You don’t have to visit one of Minnesota’s most popular lakes to enjoy some of its finest local dishes anymore.
Coming out this month, “Lake Minnetonka Eats” is a cookbook comprised of the signature menu items at 25 lakeside eateries, as well as the “history and stories” of each restaurant and bakery featured.
Also included are recommended “beer pairings” from the Excelsior Brewing Company.
It’s the labor of Tiffany Winter, who grew up in Mound on Lake Minnetonka’s Cooks Bay, according to her biography.
Her love for her native lakeside community, and her “foodie interests,” she says, inspired her to gather together some of the area’s best recipes for a cookbook.
Putting it together was a daunting prospect when she set out on her mission last year – in an interview with the Laker Pioneer, Winter says she was “petrified” of asking restaurants for their recipes, but found an enthusiastic response from all of the businesses
Some of the highlights, the newspaper says, are the Smoked Gouda & Lager Fondue from the Bayside Grille, the Quinoa Salad from 318 Cafe Southwest, and the Dakota Junction’s Thai Chicken Salad.
To celebrate the debut of her new hardcover recipe collection, Winter is hosting a “Cookbook Launch Event” at the Bayview Event Center in Excelsior on July 21.
Lake Minnetonka Eats is now on sale on the official website for $25.95.
